About

Rae Colborne was introduced to music at a young age (in Canada) when he played cornet in a marching band. Throughout his high school and college years, he led and played in several local bands in the San Diego area. In 1967 Rae auditioned for the Army band and spent three years playing trumpet in Washington State and Berlin, Germany. After the army, Rae returned to Washington and attended Central Washington University, where he studied composition with Paul Creston. His music career has spanned over four decades in the Pacific Northwest. He has arranged and composed music for instrumental and choral ensembles at all skill levels. Now retired from teaching music in the public schools, Rae continues to direct the Fairwood Methodist Church choir in Renton, WA.  He also sings in the Rainier Chorale and leads his own vocal jazz quartet (Voices 4) in Kent, WA.
